The Client

Popeye’s Supplements Canada launched in 1989 and was the very first sports nutrition retail outlet in Canada. Today, it is Canada’s largest sports nutrition retailer, with over 125 locations coast to coast. Their exceptional growth and success rate throughout the years can be attributed to hard work by their dedicated and select group of franchisees.

All of their franchisees focus on serving their customers’ needs by offering optimum results, superior service, accurate information, real knowledge, the best selection of products on the market, and incredible value with the lowest prices in Canada.

The Challenge

Their vast product selection and great value have been the cornerstones of Popeye’s success. However, that is not enough to win in such a competitive market. Popeye’s franchisees were looking for a solution that would allow them to easily gather customer information and better engage them by delivering relevant information and promotions tailored to their individual needs. At the same time, each franchisee wanted to maintain full control over their customer base and independence, to serve their shoppers in the way that best fit their needs.

The Solution

bLoyal and the Popeye’s franchisees worked together to implement bLoyal Marketer Edition across the franchise network. During the first phase, Popeye’s was able to add hundreds of thousands of customers to their database quickly. Each franchise has maintained full control of their customer database and has been able to engage with them actively. Popeye’s has seen very positive results from launching tailored and customer-specific promotions.

Phase 2 of the Popeye’s project will expand their use of bLoyal Marketer Edition by adding the ability to support national programs that can be delivered across franchises to strengthen their brand and retail footprint while reducing the direct and indirect costs of their programs.
